CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

ZUMBA
Zumba fuses hypnotic musical rhythms and tantalizing moves to create a dynamic workout system designed to be FUN and EASY TO DO! The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin Flavor and International Zest into the mix and you've got ZUMBA! In the past years Zumba has become nothing sort of a revolution. Coining the concept of "fitness-party" and making fitness fun, Zumba has spread like wild-fire, and had positioned itself as the single most influential movement in the industry of fitness.

BEGINNER/LEVEL 1 YOGA - More Info CLICK HERE
This class is perfect for the first time, or new-to-yoga student, who would like extra instruction and explanation of postures. Modifications for injuries and more strenuous versions of poses will be offered, to cover a range of fitness levels. It will include postures for full body strength and balance, but will not include any complicated inversion or arm balance postures. The cool-down portion of the class will involve stretching and relaxing common tension areas. This class includes focus on alignment and breath.

GENTLE YOGA
Ready to slowly and gently gain strength and flexibility, after a long period of not excercising because of injuries or not having range in your joints? Join us for our new gentle yoga class for the most basic poses for beginners. We will focus on alligning our bodies, gaining strength for balance, breathing and gaining flexibility in a class especially for anyone who has had injuries that prevent them from joining our other classes. We will use many adaptations and techniques in class, to slowly feel better in your body, help joints to feel more comfortable, and experinece the many health benefits of yoga from a restorative hour together.

COUNTRY & POP LINE DANCING
Anyne can learn to line Dance. Brenda will warm you up with basic steps developing muscle memory. This gradual introduction of moves helps you easily learn to retain the dances. No need for Yoga pants in this class, wear your jeans and favorite smooth soled shoes and get ready to cha, cha, pivot and glide to some of your favorite country pop tunes.

DANCE - SHAPE
This jazz dance class for adults is energetic and fun. You'll learn unique moves, fancy foot work, turns, leaps, and combinations. Class includes an extensive warm up to strengthen, tone, and stretch muscles, preparing your body for the rigors of a dance class. You'll learn technique during the across the floor segment which will have you turning and leaping with style and grace. The last part of the class will motivate you with fun dance choreography, inspire your inner dancer, and make you perform with a smile that would light up an stage.

DEEP STRETCH
This class will have a short warm up session, and over an hour of deep stretches focused on opening up chronic muscle restrictions. Many chronic muscle and connective tissure restrictions are responsible for causing joint pressure and pain, aching muscles, and radiating pain in extremities. THis stretching portion will help increase long term flexibility in muscles and connective tissue. This will reduce the ikelihood of injury in sports, as well as help athletes to gain more power, endurance, and range of motion.

Lexi Torrisi has been teaching   dance and fitness to children and adults for over 20 years.  She is a certified Zumba instructor.  Lexi’s classes are well organized and her students enjoy the consistency and progressions she offers while learning and mastering routines. Lexi has an infectious smile and warm energy that always make you feel welcome.  

Alissa Gank is a bonafide fitness champion earning national and international awards in sportaerobics. Her years as a competitve athlete have taught her all about the extremes in fitness. She takes this experience and offers her own blend of workout to those looking for an extra challenge. Alissa will push you to your limits.  It’s not about whether you can do every move in the workout it’s about whether you give it you best effort.  These workouts are great to break fitness plateaus. Alissa’s boot camps are offered in sessions at various times of the year. If there is not a current boot camp being offered you can inquire about a personal training session with Alissa.

Danny Durr

Danny is a certified Zumba instructor and teaches merengue, salsa, cumbia, reggaeton, calypso, samba, flamenco, and bollywood. Danny is also the Artistic Director for Ydance, the dance program offered at the YMCA in Cumberland.  Danny also teaches hip-hop and other dance based fitness classes.
