why the recital is a required part of our program
At Brenda’s Body Shop, the annual recital is not an optional add-on. It is a core part of our training program and student experience.
Our classes operate as year-long group programs, not drop-in or short-term sessions. From the beginning of the season, students are placed into age-and level-appropriate groups, and choreography is built gradually over many months. Each dancer plays an important role in the final performance.
how classes change during recital season
During the early part of the year, classes focus on skill development technique, and learning new material. As we move into the spring semester, the focus shifts almost entirely to recital preparation.
At that point:
Class time is dedicated to rehearsing full group routines.
Choreography builds week to week and depends on consistent attendance.
Students rehearse spacing, formations, transitions, and timing for the stage.
There is no separate or alternate curriculum for students not performing.
Because of this structure, students who are not participating in the recital cannot continue attending classes once recital rehearsals begin. There is simply no appropriate or productive class content outside to the recital preparation.
Why Participation is required
The recital:
Is the culmination of the year’s training
Teaches responsibility, teamwork, and commitment
Gives students experience performing as part of a group
Reflects the time, planning, and instruction invested throughout the season.
Allowing students to opt out late in the year would disrupt group choreography and affect the experience for other dancers who have committed to the full program.
Planning ahead is important
Recital dates are announced early in the season so families can plan accordingly. We strongly encourage families to check recital dates before scheduling spring travel or other commitments.
Once the season is underway, spots in classes are reserved and cannot be replaced. For this reason, all recital and withdrawal policies are outlined clearly and applied consistently to all families.
In summary
The recital is a required part of enrollment
Classes become recital-focused in the spring
Students not performing cannot continue classes during this phase
Policies are designed to be fair, consistent, and sustainable for all families.
Withdrawal From Classes
Our program is based on a full year of participation. Withdrawal before November 30 results in no fee penalty, as we can still fill the space in the class.
Withdrawal between December 1 and January 31 will result in a charge of 50% of the remaining tuition for that season ( September- April ).
Withdrawal after February 1 will result in all tuition fees being paid in full for the remainder of that season.
